Big Interview 2025
Another extremely successful Big Interview event was held on 13 February 2025 at Worthing High School.
Our Year 10 students were given the opportunity to experience an interview on a 1:1 basis with an unknown person from a local or national business or member of the community who had very kindly volunteered to give up their own invaluable time to support this event.
The Big Interview is invaluable in providing students with a mock interview by one of the volunteers so that they have the opportunity to prepare for their future pathways as they begin to move onto college interviews in Year 11 as well as university and job interviews in the future.
Each student will be provided with individualised written feedback from the interview on various important factors, including,
Overall conduct: Including body language, communication, positivity and politeness.
General: To include current school subjects, Post 16 options, strengths and weaknesses and how to use and better those.
Team Skills. Do they have a willingness to work in a team and are currently a good team player?
Leadership: Do they have a desire for this or a willingness to take this on?
Planning & Organisation: Is the student able to plan ahead and give examples?
Flexibility: Are students able to be flexible in different situations?
Students are also provided with advice on any area for improvement and, of course, on what they have done well. They are also given information as to career pathways that the interviewers feel they would do well at and should consider or research further.
This year's Year 10 students who took part were amazing and although some showed nerves, which is to be totally expected, they all overcame this and truly excelled in their interviews. The interviewers were all really impressed with their maturity, confidence in a 1: 1 situation, the way they engaged in conversations, as well as having a very focused & inspired vision of their future pathways.
These events would not happen without a team of volunteers who are prepared to give up their own invaluable time to support both the school and our students. We are as always really thankful to all the local and national companies and individuals who kindly gave up their valuable time away from their own businesses to be a crucial factor in the day's success and supporting the ongoing development and ambitions of each of our Year 10 students as they embark on the pathway to further education and entering the workplace.
